Hi everyone

Looking for a BBQ gas bottle, I'm assuming butane and orange??  Plastic or metal

If you purchase new bottle in the garage do you have to have a contract with them?

Thanks

We just bought a gas BBQ and got our gas bombona from the Repsol station in Los Alcázares, as they only do exchanges of existing bombonas in San Pedro del Pinatar. Even though we only wanted the smaller K6 bombona for barbeques, we had to pay a deposit and sign a contract. We can now just exchange this one when it's empty and just pay for the gas.

How much did you have to pay for the contract?

Thanks

If you do not have a contract and there is any accident in your home where gas is involved your insurance would be invalid and you would also be libel for fines.

Take care and be legal

€60 for a contract is way over the top. I got one for €17 only about a year ago. Empty bottles are sold for c€10, not much chance of problems as they are outside.

As for the bottles themselves; an exchange is around €15, though some garages charge more, so shop around. I get ours from the Repsol gas bottle place, not the garage, in Los Alcazares.

The ones with plastic tops are lighter as they have less gas in them. They are designed for older people. And, here’s the rub, they cost more! So, if your able, get the all metal ones as they have more gas and are cheaper.

Yes you can buy the bottles for around 10euros then just get a replacement refill, the cost of the gas is regulated by the government  and todays price is 15.37 for the 12.5kg however the retailer can add up to 5% on this price.

As for a contract it is a "legal requirement" and is important whether you are using the gas inside or outside, because it would ensure your insurance company would have no argument if there was any accident, if you watch Spanish tv and the news you will often see the damage that can be caused by one of these cylinders exploding.

La Sola petrol station in Los Alcazares (The orange building) sell gas bottles €13.90 for a 13kg propane.

They sell butane too depending on your regulator

Not sure on price of contract, but I recall €30 euros.

The contract sounds expensive but in England the same bottle in propane costs £30 £45 in patio gas.

So once you have your contract the gas is very cheap.

Not worth time looking round for a used potentially unsafe empty bottle, time is money in my eyes

Not sure when you last purchased a bottle from them I bought one there last month and it was 15.90. Gas prices are on the increase the price I quoted in my previou post was from the official website
