Hi, I am a non resident who has a bank account with cajamar bank. Can I switch my account to wefferent and will my direct debits be switched onto that account automatically. Fed up with paying fees. Thank you.

Hi , you need to go to the branch and ask them.  I guess you have been charged for some of your transfers etc.  good luck

I had a Sabadell bank account but opened a Euro Wise account  had to contact Companies directly to switch Direct debits to Wise account & believe me it wasnt easy.Once I knew all the DDR had successfully been set up and had left the account then contacted Sabadell to close the account.I dont think Spain bank offer the switch service like in the UK.

They don’t guarantee switching your direct debits like they do in the Uk, although some direct debits are successful.

I would ask for a printout of all your direct debits and ensure you have successfully switched them all over before closing down your old bank account, or you could incur debt charges later.

It’s a little time consuming but you will get there.

There is an app called snap and translate to help you understand wording on letters etc, also I used I translate to help me through

Thank you for the advise. Especially the snap translate.

Look at Google Lens for a very good multi function translation app.

I looked into switching to Weferent online account. I read in the small print that the account is for spanish residents so im not sure if I'll be able to open it. I intend to try it when I'm in spain, using spanish WiFi.

I'd be interested to hear if you are able to open the account as a non resident as we're fed up paying fees too. We're currently with Sabadell.

A non resident can most definitely open a Cajamar Wefferent account.

Unfortunately a non resident cannot open the account online.

You have to go into a Cajamar branch to do it.

Lots of people on this forum use Cajamar Wefferent account.
