Hi All, it seems that 12-15 year olds can now get vaccinated but UK is only giving them one jab. Does anyone know or seen any information as to if this would be ‘deemed’ as ‘Fully vaccinated’ in terms of entry to Spain and/or entry back to UK?

TIA

I've been looking at this as my sister and my 15 year old niece were due to come over in a few weeks, but have changed their minds, as her mock exams have been brought forward.

Only under 12s are exempted as per this: https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/spain/entry-requirements

However, it is not clear whether the new one shot of vaccine would qualify for the UK vaccine certificate as per this: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/nhs-covid-pass#who-can-get-an-nhs-covid-pass-in-england

We had decided to just pay for a PCR 'Fit to Fly' test for my niece, which may be the safest solution in your circumstances.

Hope this helps!

Thanks RichT, yes looking at this 12-15 would not be able to get their pass with only one jab, which means that apart of the fit to fly entry to Spain they will also need PCR Spain departure, Day 2 and 8 and 10 days isolation (time off school) or Day 5 test to release ( less time off school. Seems a pointless exercise for a weeks hols in the sun 😩. Many Thanks for the links

Hi Ange, children under 18 who reside in the UK will be treated as fully vaccinated when arriving back in the UK after the 4th October irrelevant of whether they have had any jabs.

In regards to entry into Spain I am not sure of that.

Many thanks Rick, this is great news! We have booked PCR tests for the children for Spain entry and will book and pay for the Day 2 when we are in Spain in case they change the rules yet again as they will return on the 2nd Nov. We are hoping they can have one vaccination next week at school, but no doubt this still wont be deemed as ‘Fully vaccinated’. Many thanks Ange

Good thinking Ange, I have heard somewhere that when the Antigen day 2 tests are allowed (allegedly at the end of October) that the NHS ones will be acceptable. Could be another saving there as they are free eh?
