I have been told that San Javier is locked down and roads are blocked off. Is this true?

I have just gone from La Torre to San Javier to go to the old Iceland.
No issues getting in to San Javier, but on my way home, I did notice that there were police stopping the occasional car on the outskirts.
Basic advice is that you can go directly from your home to either a supermarket of pharmacy then directly home again. (keep your receipt as proof!)
If you don't speak good Spanish, you should download the Google 'translate' app, which lets you speak into your phone in English and it'll translate into Spanish. Flicking the arrow and it can do the opposite. i.e. Spanish to English. It'll also let you scan anything written in Spanish and immediately translate to English. (or indeed any language!)
Fantastic app

Hi, we live in San Javier and I can confirm that it is in lock down as is the whole of Spain. We are allowed out to go to the supermarket, pharmacy, bank, medical appointment or to briefly walk your dog.
The police are patrolling the streets in their cars and stopping anyone not following these restrictions.
There are no other shops open so it is not possible to go anywhere else. You are NOT allowed to just go for a walk or cycle ride or to sit outside. You are NOT allowed to socialise with anyone from outside your family home.
Please note that you are NOT allowed to have more than one person in your car (unless it is a dependant child). Visits to the supermarket must be done individually and you are expected to just go in to buy whatever you need and not stop and have a chat with friends. We have heard of a couple in Carrefour who were fined €650 for shopping together!!
In saying all that, all the supermarkets that I have been in are fully stocked and very organised and quiet. All have insisted that you use the hand sanitiser and wear gloves as you enter.
Hope this helps to clear up what is actually happening here.

Thanks for that. I live in Sucina and wondered whether I could drive to the Mercadona Supermarket in San Javier or are the roads blocked?

Hi, sorry for telling you what you already know, I wasn't sure if you were already in the area. The roads are not blocked. The advice we have been given is to use our nearest supermarket. I don't know what you have in Sucina. My advice would be to be prepared that if you are stopped you can explain why you needed the Mercadona.

I live in Los Alcazares, but am keen to drive to Iceland in San Javier. Is that possible?

I did just that the other day Roberto. I felt apprehensive - it is 6.5 kms each way, but there was very little traffic and no sign of police. I was of course on my own in the car, and had thought through what to say to justify the trip if I needed to - I am in my 70s as is my OH, and although relatively fit we find the prepared meals easier to use to feed us. I am diabetic, have COPD (EPOC in Spanish) so have had a cough for a long time, and of course breathing difficulties. I bought enough stuff (without stockpiling) to help us eat for a couple of weeks, with maybe a trip or two on foot to more local supermarkets - the problem with using the local ones is that there is a limit on how much weight either of us can carry.
All we all can do is do our best, and be sensible.

Blimey You have Mercadona, Lidles and Aldi, what more do you want? We have 2 small Spanish supermarkets, but they are providing us with the basics. That is all you are allowed.
