Hi David

You don't say how long you want to hire a car for or what purpose. I always hire from the Airport either Murcia or Alicante and I always use Goldcar.

The prices are really competitive i.e. just today I have booked 5 days in Feb from Corvera for a total of 8.5 Euros. I dont take their extra insurance as I use an annual policy from the uk for £35 a year, be aware though that you should take lots of photos of the car when you pick it up and drop it off, I have had issues twice with them, first they said there was some damage which I disproved with my photos from the collection and second time  they said the emergency triangle was missing when I returned the car, it wasn't but was not able to prove it afterwards so cost me 30 euros, now I make sure that they check the car in front of me when I return it.

regards

Geoff

Just look for comments on the Internet re Goldcar.....avoid them like the plague. They tried to scam me but failed (I was MD of a rental company before my retirement) but I know and have read of many who have been scammed for very large sums of money. Please do not risk it.

Agreed, don't go near Goldcar! Real scammers as so many have discovered. Dickmanns is another; Firefly iffy, depends where you pick it up from. OK rentals??? The only company I can thoroughly recommend is Wiber, although their prices did rise towards the end of last year.

Hi Mark

Good reply, I do like Goldcar ( as my previous post 8.5 euros for 5 days) but you must be prepared and protect yourself as they want you to take their insurance, once bitten twice shy regarding the emergency triangle but I have used them about 10 times in the last year and if you have your own insurance they are really reasonably priced.

Good point about high kerbs and I also park away from other vehicles is possible much to my wife's annoyance!!!

Another thing to check is the collection time, last time I picked my car up the guy next to me had put the time of collection 12 hours earlier so his booking was cancelled and they offered him a replacement for 490 euros as it was a new booking at the desk - personally I would have walked away and got a taxi but depends how far you have to travel.
