Electricity charges
Hello. Coukd anyone recommend an electric provider with competitive charges. The house is not used all the time and we would like to reduce the standing charge when empty.
Thank you.

The 'standing charges' are similar with most suppliers - you are effectively paying for the use of the meter and the 'potencia' (which is the maximum draw from the grid you could take at any time - this is commonly 5.75kW, but could be as low as 3.3kW or as high as 9.2kW, for a domestic premises). This will be shown on your bill.
We pay approx. €30 per month for 9.2kW potencia, so 5.75kW should be around €20 per month.
You can reduce your potencia, but there may be a small charge to do this and you need to be careful that you don't then start blowing your main fuse when you are at the property if you exceed the potencia - bearing in mind a kettle is 3kW, oven 2kW, hairdryer 2kW, aircon, etc. in addition to 'background' consumption from a fridge, freezer, lights, etc. and possibly a pool pump...
Hope this helps!

We are with Energy Nordic, I found it hard to find a real difference in any of the suppliers…..I like Nordic because they communicate very well in English.
If once you have done your research you decide to go with Nordic I can recommend you, and you and I will get a €25 credit….. a little something towards your annual charges…
You can PM me if you want to go this route…..

Absolute rubbish.
My last position before retirement was as part of the senior leadership team at Scottish Power, who are part of the Iberdrola Group; so I would politely suggest that my knowledge of this area exceeds yours....
