Hello Sharon
I would talk to Sharon at Trans-pet. She is fantastic and offers a fabulous service and I am sure she will be able to answer any questions you have. Here are the contact details https://www.britishbusinesspagesinspain.es/info2.cfm?info_id=98937
We're doing the same this year, like this: Talk to and book them in at your vets for boosters, rabies jab and worming (where necessary) info, he'll advise accordingly and issue passports. Choice of sending by pet courier service, air freight (both expensive) or take in your own car via Channel Seaports to France, or as we're doing, travelling with Brittany Ferries to Santander in Northern Spain. It's a longer crossing but less time on the road and your dogs can stay in the cabins with you, have a look on the ferry website for details to suit your requirements. Good luck.

Hi, we bring our dog to San Pedro for 3months each Autumn/Winter.
We drive and use Brittany Ferries Portsmouth to Bilbao. It is a great drive down to San Pedro, sometimes we stay over on the way down or do it in one go with frequent stops, depending on the arrival time of the ferry. Our dog is very happy on the ship, he's allowed in the cabin with us. Kennels are also available.
Hope this helps your decision. Good luck. Jo

There are many methods, if you scroll down this page to near the bottom, there is a link to Jims guides which is just about all you need to know when moving to Spain.
We used the Poole in dorset brittany ferries to cherbourg, it was an easy route. the ferry takes 4 hours and you leave the dogs in your vehicle, you can visit them at the half way point, but we didnt so that we didnt disturb the dog.
The drive from there was easy and there are many pet friendly motels and b and b´s.
good luck
