The bank have made same offer to me if I take out the house insurance. Im wondering will they hike the price of the insurance once they have you in.?

Why do you need a cheque. Notaria offfice accepts bank transfers which are free.?

Thanks for suggestion.

I will certainly check out if that option is available to me.

How does the seller get their money from the Notaria?

Kills me to give so much money to the bank to get back my own hard earned money!

You should be paying your solicitor and he distributes funds to the relevant parties; do you have a Spanish bank account?

My solicitor introduced me to my bank and they waived all bank cheque fees...thinking about it I did have to go to the bank to get the physical cheques on the day I completed, but there were no charges simply because I was a new customer, referred by my solicitor.

That said, I would ask about doing a bank transfer direct to Notary as my solicitor did this for his fees - surely the Notaria could then transfer to the sellers bank? The only way to avoid charges altogether is to withdraw cash, which you can arrange to do with the bank......This is Spain and they are a little behind the times, but they do accept bank transfers. Good luck :)
