Hi,

As far as we know - we've had property here since 1986 - all banks in Spain have fees, unlike UK where the banks are doing their utmost to have us as customers. If you get a positive reply I will be most interested.

All the best

Hi Andy

I have been in Spain for many years in different areas through business, and banked with quite a few banks including a couple of bad ones that have now closed.

I currently bank with and have for many year with La Caxia I pay no fees. I have just had to replace 2 bank card because I broke them by sitting on them in my wallet.the bank mad a charge of 5euros each but I queried this and they refunded the money.

The banks here are now getting like the UK and they want your business all you have to say you will open an account but do not wish to pays any fees!

I am sure which ever bank you try will accept this, what you must remember hear the decision is up to the director (manager) and the more customers he has the better for him.

Good luck with your purchase.

Kind regards

ED

I wish I'd seen this last week.   I have been living in San Pedro since beginning of November and my next door neighbour recommended her bank (Santander) because there is an English manager there and he is very helpful (she said).  so I went along and the first problem was the internet banking wasnt working properly so I had to go back the next (it was raining!) and sign the papers.  I then wanted a bank card but he told me it takes at least 5 working days  of course he told me about the fees but said all banks charge them!  and of course this week with two holidays it'll probably be next week if i'm lucky.  Although a friend told me he waited 3 months for his card!  I'm not that impressed I must say, especially after the first meeting he wasn't exactly helpful.  I guess it's too late now.

Hi Ed,

I think I have found one with no fees thanks Sabadell I spoke to the Manager and said I can open an on-line account with no fees and I was then offered this bank so I will give it a go thanks for the advice.

If they do start charging it is never to late to change Banks.

                                                                                        Regards Andy Williams.

Hello,

Can anyone confirm if La Caxia and or Sabadell Banks are still recommended?  I'm looking at opening an account next week and any recommendations would be gratefully accepted.

Thanks in anticipation

Debbie

Hi Debbie

I am still  with La Caxia an have no problems with them what soever I mainly use there ATM and internet banking where I use  a money transfer company and the transfer is normally there on the same day.

Have had no dealings with Sabadell so cannot comment.

Enjoy Spain.

Regards

Ed

My bank Sabadell seem to charge heavily for their services, and double it for joint accounts, think I will give La Caxia a try after reading this.
