Hi all, haven't been back to Lo Pagan for 2 years and would like to close sabadell account. Although no movement on my account, no direct debits etc they are charging me every month for keeping this account open, any info would be grateful on this, thanks.

You could try closing it online but I think that they might demand your personal attendance with documentation.

Yes you could try closing the account online.

I believe somebody on here managed to close their account online but I can't find the post.

I think it very much depends on the branch in question.

Always worth a try.

Certainly try to close your account online.
I transferred whatever money was in the account and the next day closed it online, this happened back in September 2020.

Good luck.

Unless you have informed your bank in writing that you intend to close your account, taking the money out of it, leaves your account open and subject to possible charges. We had an account in a branch of Banco Santander in Tenerife many years ago and we sold our house there and moved to Lanzarote and informed the bank that we were moving and closing our account and thought that that, would be that. But no, every month they added interest to the supposedly closed account, for not having any money in it and every month, we would call them to tell them that the account was closed and they would refund us that charge. This went on for about 7 months and even though they always returned the charges, the account stayed open. In the end, we had to fly over to Tenerife and go into the branch to close the account again in person and got the confirmation in writing that we no longer had an account with that bank. And never again would we!

Thank you looks like we will have to go back to Spain to close it. Thanks again for your help.

Hi Liz,

I posted on here back last year when I closed my Sabadell account online.

My story is that I emptied my account and closed it online in the following couple of days…so I think it’s something you at least try to do..

Good luck…
