If you are British ...
If you are non-Resident, you pay a (relatively small) non-resident's tax each year, but you are limited to 90 days in any 180. Otherwise, you carry on paying your dues in the UK as normal.
If you have Residency (i.e. a visa post-Brexit), the world changes. Examples ...
- your income tax liability switches to Spain (there is cut-over process which involves paying in both countries for a period of time)
- you need to change to a Spanish driving licence, and you might need to re-take your test in Spain
- you have limited access to the UK and to the UK NHS
In both cases, you pay "council tax" on your Spanish home, tax/insurance/routine safety test on your Spanish car.
As of 1/1/21 "Residency" has become "Visa".
Visa info attached here .... note the income requirements/healthcare requirements.
