Hi

I was recommended by a friend to have Avatel internet.

I was shocked that it Is going to cost 24.99€ even when not there (holiday home)

as my neighbour pays 9.99 going up to 12.50.

He assured me they were wrong, and as they were out I couldn't check. I called him back and he said I can cancel the contract if I can find it cheaper.

San Pedro wifi do not answer emails or their phone!

Before I cancel (its being installed in my absence before Christmas) what / who can you recommend please.

TIA J

Jacqie - you may have to accept that typical costs for things in Spain can be very different to the UK. Wine is cheaper, petrol is cheaper (and diesel even more so), internet, electricity and some other things are dearer.

You cannot have the penny, the bun and the cherry on the top as my old aunt used to say!

😂😂 Thank you. I was looking for reassurance since my neighbour is adamant she pays half the amount to the same company.

Hi J

I just signed up for their holiday internet service. You pay 100 Euro installation which gets you your own modem/router.

You can then pay 2 euro per day first 8 days then 1 euro per day after. Start and cancel whn you like but you will allways pay the 2 euro per day for first 8 days.

If you are here for less than 6 months of the year ths will work out cheaper than going onto the continual internet service at 24.99

For TV, if you are an amazon firestick or I believe smart tv owner for 9.99 euro per month you can have virtually all the UK tv chanels can record and can go back 7 days to watch something you had missed. I also use that on my ipad for tv in the bedroom.

Consider that otherwise the going price for 24/7/12 internet is 24.99 per month

Enjoy Spai

Bob

Thank you, I think with the connection charge it worked out about the same!

Hi again J

Well, if you are only going to have your holiday home here for one year that is probably correct but the second year it will be 100 euro cheaper and every year after that.

I failed to indicate that the TV is ExpatPrimeTV

All the best

Bob

We pay we 22.90 with flexa/San Pedro fibre and it’s always on as it serves our security cameras too. We considered a tourist pay as you go for our rental apartment but again, we decided to have it always on.

People on holiday these days expect WiFi, and again, our security camera can run through WiFi so for us its worth it. For TV we bought a box at 100 euro to get all English tv channels from flexa -we have one in our holiday home and one in the rental apartment.

Not sure what you neighbour has for 9.99 but I have not seen anything that cheap here.

Hi there,

I use San Ped WiFi, they have been great at replacing the ariel during the storms over the last year and a half. We have a pay as you go contract which can be activated and paid for online, good WiFi connection and loads of TV channels with catchup. Yes it can be hard to phone them but I always go to their shop, they have a couple of English speaking staff and everything can be done on the spot including payment, the signal does drop out from time to time, bit like (Virgin). They also now can in install fibre optic, the installation fee is 100 euros.

Good luck

Nick
