Hi

We are due to fly out on Tuesday for 2 weeks to our apartment in San Pedro del Pinatar and wanted to know how everything is looking there at the moment in light of all the news about spikes in Coronavirus cases elsewhere in Spain?

Are restaurants, beaches etc all still open as normal?

Is there any hint that lockdown measures might be reintroduced?

I appreciate no-one will have definitive answers but any information or advice from people currently out there would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Kind regards

Ryan

Hi everything is open as 'normal'. It's advisable to book restaurants in advance but not always necessary. It's a lot quieter at the minute, the beaches are open with social distancing measures in place and beach guards on some beaches making sure that people are following the rules. They get a little busier at the weekends but nothing like they usually are at this time of year. Most people are being responsible with social distancing.

Beach rules; no ball games, inflatables, no  smoking, parasols 4m apart and people 1.5metres apart, most have one way systems to get on and off the beach

As for a lockdown, who knows? Unlikely that they will be as strict as before if it does happen again, as the economy cannot afford it, and so far its individual towns being put into lockdown  in this region which is basically a confinement of the town. The nearest town with restrictions is Totana, with lorca,  mazarron and some parts of Murcia city being reviewed this week for potential confinement.

Wear a mask, wash your hands and follow local advice and you should be fine. If you're not coming for another 2 weeks then keep and eye on the spanish news for updates in the meantime.

Hi!!! Dax has said it perfectly. Not to worry. Follow the rules and life is as good as it gets in San Pedro. Went to El Mojón, Murcia beach today, it was so nice to see people enjoying life following social distancing. Life guards on stand by. The water so clean and beautiful. Can't beat it under the circumstances. People really appreciative the gift of being outdoors. I don't think anyone wants to be confined anytime sooner. Com'on down and enjoy the "new normal" life.

We returned to the uk 2 weeks ago. All was open, beaches restricted to 4 hours but didn’t see it enforced as it wasn’t busy. We didn’t have any problems with restaurants although Saturday night was really busy in Lo Pagan (as always!). We felt very safe the whole time, much better than uk. All restaurants wiped the tables and chairs before you sat down. Use hand gel regularly, wear a mask and you will be fine. Have a great time :-)
