How can people say on here that people are encouraged to go out in the UK? What a load of rubbish. If you read and listen to the powers that be this virus would be over with in a couple of months.I really cannot understand the fact masses are going to the supermarkets all barging past each other etc no 2 metre distance from each other no cleaning on entry of hands people talking closely down the isles handling many items etc get the picture?.Xsquaddies of my age know too well how a contaminated area can wreak havoc to the population.Their isn't even a security person on the doors spraying hands on anyone or even the trolleys. That in itself is going to be fatal.

Hallelujah Gaza, a like minded Veteran,  your not an 'ex squaddie' pal, you've earned that much respect!  Just be aware though, put your neck over this parapet and any number of scaremongering experts will take a shot to score points. Thankfully most Expats, although worried, seem to level headed enough to assist each other without the unnecessary theatrics.  It's bad yes, but we'll get through if we stick to  ghe rules and advise. Boris has imposed the much needed rules tonight because of uncooperative masses. Listen to the 'official' experts, use this site to assist each other!!

I agree most ex pats are level headed but there are still some stupid ones about and think they are above the law

Yesterday I went to the local filling station to buy a butano refill, I paid the attendant through a glass window, he gave me the key to the cage  where the gas is kept, while I was unlocking the gate, a very helpful English man, came up behind me and started to try to help me unlock the cage, because he also wanted gas, he was not wearing mask or gloves (I was of course) I said I do not need any help and requested he stood away from me, his response was, we don't have to worry about it, its only in the big city's??

Another British couple were walking to the local supermarket together to shop, I asked them if they were aware that only one person is allowed to shop at anyone time, there response the police wont worry about us as we are not Spanish???

Lets hope there are not to many about like this.

I am still in the US.  We have the same type of idiots here as well.  Unfortunately starting at the top!  We we were supposed to close on a house in El Algar in early may.  Looks like it will be postponed and that's ok.  My heart goes out to all the Spanish folks (native and expats) during this time.   It doesn't help with those that feel self entitled.

I wrote an email to all of those friends and family I love in the UK and abroad. I put down the facts and said sod listening to science this is what you need to do, I didn’t care that I might scare, I wanted to scare the shit out of them! If I only succeed with a minority listening then it would make me happier. So scare the pants off of people, one of my friends said her house now nearly always smells of bleach, because of me, I said what about doorbell, letterbox, gate latch.....they are now wiped as well.

My eldest son is a farmer in Ibiza now he has being cycling every day to water his plants, (4000 basil seeds alone) if he had our weather here his crops would have been destroyed like last year. But the police are really strict there, he got stopped and was asked to see his employers certificate to say where and what he works as, Paul replied I am self-employed but you still need a certificate, basically he was told to go home and write a letter giving himself permission to go to work on his farm. But he wrote it out that night and carries all necessary docs as well. Same nigh he saw a couple stopped walking two big dogs the husband was told to take the dogs and the wife was sent home the following day, same policeman saw them walking around a metre apart, they were fined.

Now some would say that it was OTT, I am sorry but I would rather OTT than dead! I have told them how to make a mask if they cannot buy one as well.

SO SCARE THE HELL OUT OF THOSE PEOPLE YOU KNOW AND LOVE.

LIN

p.s I will scare you with a pic of me in homemade mask type 1

Maybe the Uk government say this but your prime minister also has said it will all be over in 12 weeks?? and I believe he and many other members of his government have symptoms of the virus and are having to isolate themselves.

In Spain it is recommended and most people here are listening to the government except the few stupid people!

Why are Hospital, Police, Supermarket, Stanco and Farmacia staff wearing them?

I would rather be safe than sorry.and respect the advice, given by the Spanish Government, as this has been my home for many years.

I do not travel backwards and forward like many people.
