Could anyone please tell me if I have to pay any taxes or import duties when taking tobacco to the UK

Yes, as Duty Free allowances now apply to EU countries, so if you exceed the allowances then you would need to declare them and pay import duties, tax, etc.

There are different rules for NI.

Thank you so much Rich T. We are only taking our allowance for needy UK residents so I guess we are doing a deed of charity !!

Without paying any duty you can bring in the following.

You can bring in one from the following:

  • 200 cigarettes.
  • 100 cigarillos.
  • 50 cigars.
  • 250g tobacco.
  • 200 sticks of tobacco for electronic heated tobacco devices.
