Looking at buying a villa but it has a low voltage pylon at the back of the property just passed the boundary. Is this a health risk?

It’s just a holiday villa so not living there.

Any one else have this issue?
thanks

Jo

There have been many scientific studies published over many years, all round the world, discussing the risk from high-voltage power lines. Some studies allege a link to childhood leukaemia, but none appear to be proven - hence new housing developments in the UK regularly being allowed to be built under electricity pylons.

I have never heard of any health issues with low voltage electricity power lines (and a quick google search couldn't find any), so I would hope that is reassuring.

There are two factors to consider - do they emit a faint humming noise and, if so, would this annoy you over time? And, are they unsightly, not just to you, but would they impact any future re-sale of the property?

Hope this helps.

Thanks Rich T

That was helpful. We have now decided against it but interestingly on reflecting & looking at the brochure, the agents pics didn’t show the pylon!!
