Yes I understand that we pay a standing charge what I do not understand is the

“usage” charge when I am not there.

If you read your meter when you leave your property then read your meter when you return the readings should be the same.

If you have turned off ALL your electric at the fuse box.

ALL the switches to OFF.

You MUST find out where your meter is located.

Sounds to me as though you could be paying for somebody else's electric !!

Thats what we think! How do we find out?

We never got any electrical certificate with the purchase either.

Hola!

The Meter should be somwhere on the front of your bungalow on the fence wall.

You might want to check and agree the new plan, but regardless your usage,  it's about €40 per month with ZERO usage! Service charge, meter rent, power delivery to the meter, operator scratches their.. you're getting a picture.

Wait for the water bill, and it's the same. I've been charged few cubic metres we weren't there. Challenged that, an answer was is the leaks BEFORE  the meter and standing charge is always applied no matter of usage.

Council tax is once per year , just over €200, check your letter box more often as there's a ultima dia when you can pay that, you'll miss deadline- new bill has to be generated with small extra fee on top, you can't pay old bill as it's ,,expires " and I don't think a remainder will be send.

Good luck with all that, make sure you got a lot money in your Spanish account as you never know who and when money will be taken, did lawyers explained non resident taxes, their might charge you a lot for a €50 annual tax calculation.

OMG, I wonder why I ever thought buying was a good investment!??

I had no idea that money can be taken from your bank account by all and sundry!?

My neighbour checks my letter box, but aren't bills pid by direct debit?

NO ONE has mentioned any non resident taxes either. My lawyers have stopped responding to my questions!
