I am certainly NOT being 'pedantic & actually unhelpful'.

PLEASE read my posts correctly.

As I have said time & time again on this thread.........

If you have a 3.3 kw supply on Iberdrolas standard tariff & pay on receipt of your bill the cost to run a 1 third freezer 2 third fridge is 1.2 euro per month.

This included EVERYTHING, IVA, potencia, meter rental EVERYTHING.

I will now not be contributing any further to this thread.

OK - so it seems that if you have the same tariff as Roland and you only have a 1/3 freezer, 2/3 fridge, your total bill per month with Iberdrola "Standard Tariff" will only be 1.20 per month - that has to be the bargain of the century. Amazing.

I misunderstood what Roland was saying too: 1.20€ is of course NOT the whole bill. Useless information really, except for real Scrooges that are prepared to empty and clean a fridge then turn it off for periods when they are not there.

Why does it make someone a scrooge to turn off a fridge/freezer when they are not in Spain, especially if they wont be there for some months?

Anyone worrying about €1 a month, less than a cup of coffee is being more than careful with money!

Are there any other electricity companies supplying San Pedro apart from Iberdrola?

Iberdrola have a much cheaper tariff similar to the UK economy 7, but even better. Check out their night tariff. No huge standing charge.

Thank you Roland, this is so useful to have.

Just a further question. Do you or anybody know if IBERDROLA have a low usage type electricity contract for customers using little or infrequent electricity if for example they are not in residence much?

We have signed up that we get a discount by using electricity during the off peak times. i.e. midnight to midday. It buys the beers!

I’m already on that tariff but my monthly bills are still over €30 per month and and no electricity at all is being used as I haven’t been to my apartment since August.  I’m sure there must be other suppliers who’d be cheaper

Yes but you will be on a 5 KW supply. It will tell you on your iberdrola bill.

I am on a 3.3 KW supply therefore my standing charge etc etc is about 14.50 euro per month with NO usage.

Hi roland ave just had my first monthly bill we only arrived here in feb was €86 which I thought was quite high I see am on that 5.5 kw and your on 3.3 can I go on this and is there any other cheaper  tariffs i could go on to get a lower bill am not to familer with prices yet cheers

Be careful with reducing potencia - with 3.3kw supply you can run for instance a 1kw iron, a 1kw kettle, just abaout a 1.5kw water heater - and wait for the breaker to trip! add a fridge/freezer, any fans, aircon, tv....and with a smart meter it can be a bit tricky to turn the power back on.

Having a holiday home is not just for the really rich but it certainly is not for the really poor either!
