HI guys!  My name is Micaela.  I've done my homework but going nowhere as of now. I need your help. My husband and I are US citizens about to turn 67 years old in a few days, yeaahhh!!! Approx. 1 year ago, we bought a house in San Pedro del Pinatar, Murcia. However,  every 3 months we have to get out of Spain because of no legal residency. One requirement in order to extend our stay is Medical Insurance. Anyone knows of a reasonable private Insurance company that would accept people our age? DKV giving us run around. We're  hoping they'll deliver one day. No process is straightforward EVER. Different agents say different things at different times  to us. We want to continue to look into other companies not International, not expensive, just in Spain. We both are in good health   Thank you so much in advance!!!

We have found ASSSA to be very good. A Spanish company who have been around for 80 years. Contact Peter on 968136543

Check on the government web site they were offering the opportunity to pay into the state system monthly

Not sure if it is still available but the state health servic is very good.

How much is it to pay into the state system or can anyone provide a link to the information?

It's called The Convenio Especial (Spanish Government Health Insurance) This is what I read while researching yesterday but you can Google for yourself.

"Is essentially a public health insurance scheme which provides cover in exchange for a monthly fee that is calculated on a number of factors. The previously announced package consisted of a monthly fee of EUR 60 for those aged 65 or under, while those over 65 must pay EUR 157, although variations may exist between regions. However, prescription costs and health transport services do not form part of the cover nor health transport. The scheme is currently being rolled out in a number of regions with a view to being available throughout the country."

Best wishes.

You should be able to contract a health insurance unless you have declared existing health problems.

Let me know if you are still looking for it.
