I do hope they,ve improved their service since 2008, personally I wouldnt touch them with a bargepole!. In 2007 I had a total ransacking, £20,000 worth of belongings in a 5 bed house which had cost us £5,000 to ship over earlier that year. Caixa,s insurer took 11days to send an assessor despite knowing my heavy metal front door had been sheared off its frame and too heavy for me to lift, and knew I was alone(60yr woman). After many months of wrangling and eventually consulting 3 solicitors(more cost) they refused to pay out stating we should have told them we had workmen longterm creating the new AVI traintrack closeby and even on our land as Renfe confiscated part of our land for the track. Obviously we didnt even know about the train as we wouldnt have bought the house the year before in 2006 if our corrupt solicitor had told us about this planned work. They told us to take them to Court. 3 differrent solicitors pointed out we should have known about the train and told the insurer as if they,d known they wouldnt have insured us as they would have considerred us as too vulnerable with workmen longterm as we were non residents. We ended up losing everything with no compensation and worse stolen 10yrs of our life to replace everything as we are still non residents. Our plan was move over late 2008. We insure with Staysure(couldnt trust a Spanish insurer again) and they have been brilliant. 1 more burglary, solarium damaged through a hailstorm(cost of 3000€) new 45m of new fencing when fence toppled over, all instances paid out within 10days of receipt of invoices. I dont know if you,re resident or not, so can only advise as a non resident. However I since was advised never to take bank insurance as they rarely pay out properly and bank gets a whopping commission from insurer. I did use Abbeygate insurance the first year after ransacking but changed to Towergate which has become Staysure now in my 8th year with them.

Pauline.
