I am purchasing an apartment and I should have the keys on the 16th December 2016 I will be flying out with my Son and would like to know more about the Town and people. I live in Swansea Wales and will be using it at first as a Holiday home for my self and family. After months of looking this Town just felt like home to home with warm people and a lovely way of life. My apartment will need some modernising painting decorating and I think my Wife said New kitchen!! If anyone could point me in the wright direction on arranging purchasing kitchen and furniture it would be very helpful. I am not sure how to get some of the old items removed and any help would make my December visit very helpful, I also need 1 or 2 air-conditioning units fitted as there isn't any in the apartment.

Best regards Andy Williams & Family

Hello Andy:  well I really wish you both the very best when you get your keys.  ref air con.  Go onto Summerbreeze on the www.  Very good site.  There was a recommendation for them from someone on this site.  I think they have got an offer on over the winter months.

We ourselves 'touched down' at San Pedro about 5 weeks ago with a view to retirement there and looking etc. We were shown around the whole area by our estate agent. There is a very new hospital already built to the north but this side of the auto strasse.  You don't have to travel to Torrevieja.  There is already built a shopping centre Dos Mares and almost next door there will be built another shopping mall Los Saez due to open beg of Dec.  The  Murcia Today is online and Good for getting snippets of info.  There is a bus that I believe travels daily from Cartagena thru to  Torrevieja (have not tried this myself yet!!).  There is a bus terminal in San Pedro.

Anyway just go on the www and there is plenty of info out there.  It's a lovely area and so many lovely beaches close by.  it's mainly Spanish although I've picked up on Scandinavians and a few continental folk making it a home too.  We are due hopefully to be there ourselves by Easter.  Well at least checking on all the process of our property which is currently being built.

Regards. Margaret

Hi Andy

Good to see fellow Welsh Families investing in Spain. Congratulations on your purchase, you have bought in a fantastic area.

Please find attached a few websites, I would suggest you take a trip to La Zenia Boulevard and take a look around Leroy Merlin & Conforama and also drop into San Javier for Zapapta y Espinosa, they have a range of products and their contractor fitted our kitchen for our developer it will give you some ideas to at least start.

You could also take a trip to IKEA in the UK for their kitchen design service and take it to IKEA Murcia, we bought some furniture and had it delivered & installed by a local company (called Furnish in Spain)    http://www.furnishinspain.com/

http://www.zapatayespinosa.com/  Loli is very helpful

http://www.conforama.es/

http://www.leroymerlin.es/   (like B&Q)

Hope these help,

Enjoy the process and the sun !

Hi Anthony & Katherine,

Thanks for some great advise and email addresses this will be a good start for me to check out in December when I pick up the keys, not sure if I could get a kitchen fitted that close to Christmas but will give it a go before my wife comes out with me in the New year.

We are really looking forward in spending time in our new town and exploring the area, I think I will be looking for a few push bikes as it is so flat in San Pedro not like Swansea.

Thanks again for your help best wishes Andy and Nicola.

Decathlon is the place to get decent bikes...don't go anywhere near the bikes in Eroski, poor quality in comparison..!

Short term you can hire bikes from Bay Bikes on the front in Lo Pagan (close to Neptuno Hotel), the boys are originally from Cwmbran...take a look on their Facebook page. Cycling is a breeze in comparison to Wales !

Hi Andy, How have you settled in? I hope all is well and you are delighted with life in Spain. My husband and I are thinking about downsizing to San Pedro, we have a house near los montesinos. It is a big step as we ate happy where we are but want tobe nearer the beach. I was just wondering if you would fancy letting us know how you are finding the area.

Are you the same person who is looking to buy a bike? We have a uni sex one for sale?

Thanks for your time Clare
