I found that the water level in my pool was rising, so checked the float, to find that it had ceased, it was now a dead float☹️ I went to my local pool supply shop, and a float kit is 45 euros, I asked if they could fit it for me, they could for 30 euros, so, altogether 90 euros all in, including tax, 😃, they came same day (yesterday) fantastic 🤩, but, here the problem starts, they removed the old unit, down to a remaining large nut, kept trying, god bless him! But after much hard work, and cussing, it just would not budge, it was explained to me that, when the unit was first installed, there should have been some tape wrapped round the protruding pipe with thread, this would have prevented the corrosion/timescale issue, by causing a barrier between the two, the timescale/ corrosion, has built up over six years, hence marrying the pieces together firmly, so, after much effort, and no success, I have been left with no water, due to the mad rush of water that cascades once the water is turned back on, with no level/water flow control, and he has left a bag over the outlet, so no water can escape from the float unit into the pool, hence it quickly rises up and floods the terrace.
Now, this is where you come in, can anyone let me know if they have had same problem, and outcome please? I have been told that they will endeavour to get the nut removed, but need a special tool etc, and someone else to do it from the same company, with a bit more know how, but, I have been told this could take a few days, is there any way that the outlet can be capped off, so that I can have my water back on, or, does the nut actually have to be removed, in order to be replaced with the new unit? it's the little things I miss, like taking a shower, flushing the loo without having to use a bucket of water from the pool etc😊
You can see the corroded nut in the last two photos!
They have since explained to me, that the nut has to be removed in order to fit the new float unit.
