Good afternoon,

We have a property in San Pedro and our electricity supplier is IBERDROLA.

The property in empty for more than a year but we are still receiving a monthly electricity bill.

Can someone tell me if this normal or someone is stealing electricity.

Can I  report this matter to the police to investigate further?

Its perfectly normal. There are standing charges such as equipment rental, payment protection insurance (which you may not realise you probably have) etc if your bill isn't astronomical I wouldn't worry about it. Also if you haven't been in the property, and didn't turn the electricity off before you left, sometimes storms cause the electric to trip on and off and you could find that your air con or other appliances are on standby thus consuming electricity.

You could contact iberdola and speak to them about your tariff and usage, they may be able to lower it.

Have you never actually read your bill? Everything is clearly laid out.

As is stated there are standing charges

You can register online with Iberdrola so that you can see any bills or electricity used

Iberdrola Customers web page (The website is off for Maintenance purposes but will be back online on June 1st)

Hope this helps

On average how high are the bills. We have an apartment and everything is switched off. We still get monthly bills of around €28. Mark.

Our Apartment has everything switched off. We get our bills every 2 months which are around 32 euros (16 euros a month) Are you sure your bill is for 1 month?

Hope this helps

Aye monthly. We get English electric bills emailed every month. We are with Iberdrola. I’ve taken off the hidden insurances and protection. I know you can reduce your consumption charge but this does not make much difference.

The standing charges are about 14 euro per month on a 3.3 kw supply with no usage & about double that on a 5 kw supply no usage.

Yer I think we’re on the higher usage rate. Thanks for the information.
