Hi,

We are looking to upgrade our internet service to Fiber Optic, can anyone recommend a provider? I know there are a few providers in the area but in particular we are interested in a service whereby we can suspend it for a couple of months when we are not in Spain.

Thanks for any information you have.

I don’t think any of the providers offer Fibre Optic as the “holiday package”...it has only just arrived so they probably need to cover the investment costs.

We recently upgraded to fibre optic via Group TV Horadada and currently pay €18 per month but it is not “pay as you go”.

I would say the download speed is significantly better and we no longer have buffering issues, so it may cost a little more but for consistency of speeds we feel it is worth the monthly cost.

We are moving over permanently this month so in fairness did factor that in our decision.

We have recently moved to Santiago de la Ribera and we have our internet from Flexa.   We have 100MB Fibre Optic and we pay 24.99 euros.per month,  It is very good and we didn't have to wait it was installed in our first week here.   I don't know what the position is regarding holidays.   They speak English and are very helpful. Hope this helps.

Hi,

I'm in la Ribera..I signed up for Fibre + TV with TV Horadada on 15/12/'18. Engineer installed cable on 17/12/'18. 2 engineers arrived on 19th installed 'box' and said they would be back in the afternoon. I'm still waiting.

I eventually got the internet on 1/1/'19 BUT am still waiting for TV.

Have visited their office in Las Alcazares 3 times. Have stayed in 2 days waiting for engineers to arrive / return. Last conversation I had in the office was a week ago and I was told ' We don't have any TV boxes left '.

I assume I will be charged ,in full, from 1/1/'19.

What would you do?

                                                                           Ray H.

Hi Ray,

First of all I would set everything out in writing to them, I would email an account of what has happened or not to date and be very specific that you do not expect to be charged for a service you have not received, i.e. the TV......without something in writing they could refute what you said when visiting their office.

You could ask about breaking the agreement and see what their response is, however if their offer suits you best then it may have be a case of being patient.

But certainly communicate via email, it's always safest.

Good luck.

You could also pay them another visit and ask for their complaints book and denounce them.

Fortunately we have not had to do this ourselves as yet so perhaps read up on Citizens Advice Spain, however, from what we have learnt, this definitely focusses the mind of any Supplier...

Ideally you want the situation resolved and get the damn fibre installed, it may mean switching suppliers after the visit..

Best of luck, please share the outcome

Ant

Hello, you can cancel the TV side as you are fulfilling your contract obligation with the internet supply from them. Go wherever for your TV. Square Media in Los Alcazares can provide you with various TV options, no matter where you are or which internet provider you are using.
