Hi Karen,
La Ribera is lovely but out of season it’s quiet and maybe won’t offer much for your daughter in the way of activities/opportunities to make friends. However in season it’s busy with holiday makers, a large number which are Spanish. And of course like all other Spanish towns it has its share of festivals and carnivals. San Javier is a 5 min drive from the sea front and is a typical busy Spanish town where properties are a little cheaper.
San Pedro del Pinatar to the north of la Ribera is a year round working Spanish town and like someone else has suggested Los Alcázares which is approx 7km south of la Ribera has a large expat community so meeting and making friends would be easier.
As for living on a golf course, if you play golf and want to play it daily then living on a golf complex makes sense and is ideal but if you don’t play golf and don’t have any interest in taking it up then why would anyone opt to buy a property on a golf complex and leave it every day to go do something else, like be on the beach.....don’t get seduced by cheaper property prices on golf courses...location, location, location always wins out....good luck.
