No problem, that`s the whole point of these forums...to inform, share and if necessary notify others of news, positive or negative. How many others have a similar experience and not thought it worth sharing....at the time.

Forearmed is forewarned.........

It's not fair is it that certain shops are doing it and getting away with it , i picked up an item took it to the till for my purse out they scanned it , it flashed up the price I got the money out to pay and the woman said no this is to cheap and fetched a Chinese man who tried saying it was 45 euros more , this to me is a rip off , then to be insulted as well when I said no with all English want for free is terrible ( I'm not English I'm Irish) then when I ask for advice to be told I could be liable etc is an absolute joke , but thank God for people like you

Very interesting...our price variance wasn`t slightly higher than that hence the fact we challenged it, albeit the price tag on the display item was lower than the price on their system, it could well have been a genuine error, these things happen.

The guy wasn`t happy when he checked the price tag but no way would we have paid the higher price, the product has a quality & level.

He wasn`t happy but in fairness we weren`t insulted....not in English anyway, we are Welsh ;-)

Thank you for your input , I will name and shame anyone who tries any unlawful act , I did ask why and suddenly no one could answer, I was infarct informed that " English want everything for free" by a worker there , I just wanted to pay what flashed up on their till nothing else , also several m...

...embers of the public witnessed this and several people have privately messaged stating the same problem,

If you consider this to be an "unlawful act" why did you not follow this up with the shop management or even the Guardia as you feel so strongly about it instead of complaining on an open forum.

Did you complain in Spanish when the person was supposed to have said " English want everything for free" and ask on what basis they made this comment.

I have purchase various items there and had to return one item because I had bought the wrong thing, no problems and in fact gave me a refund when I would have quite willing accepted a credit note.

In my personal and humble opinion I want to suggest to avoid these Chinese shops as much as possible. It is an invasion and they pushed and will try pusing local shops out of business. In and around San Pedro, Pilar de Horadada, Los Alcazaras, San Javier are more locals shops with nice things to ...

...buy, maybe a little more expensive, but mostly better in Quality and I try to support local as much as possible.

Chinese shops have mostly lotst of bad plastic stuff, poor quality and is becoming more expensive week by week. Let’s try more to support local Spanish or other European shops.

I do understand you can only spend your euros once, but spend it wise.

Support your local if possible.

Great believer in supporting the local community, even if a little more expensive.

As for pricing, items should be priced up beforehand so you can choose if you accept the price or not.

Is this not what these review sites are all about, but you can’t trust all the reviews, you have to make your own judgement.

If a shop is purposely trying to up the price of things just because you are non Spanish or to whom they think they can get away with it, that is wrong and deserves to be named and shamed.

Unfortunately there is a minority out there that will try it on, especially if they think you are a tourist, as they think  it isn’t worth moaning about.

After Covid a lot of things have genially gone up in price, but there is also a lot shops/trades people artificially increasing costs to line their own pockets.

I think it would be wise to keep vigilant on increasingly changing situations across the board.

Car hire is a prime example, but prices are coming down slowly

Hi everyone

Does anyone know what the rules and regulations are for pricing in shops , we've been in to the idea shop on pinatar park and when the item I wanted to buy was scanned at the till it came up with a price I was happy with then the girl said no and tried charging much much more , it's happening qui...

...te a few times to non Spanish in quite a few shops , druni is also guilty of this , is there a body this can be reported to as I'm getting fed up with being "mugged" once a week by various shops , this last time in the idea shop the man who was working there actually said you British want everything free , I just wanted to buy a cushion at the price it said it was on their till system not the made up price , it's humiliating to say the least

I will now avoid this shop and druni at all costs and advise everyone else to double check what they are charged at the till if shopping there

Just feel like I have to state s few points here after some nastiness

1 . I go into idea choose an item 26euro , it's in a package with barcode

2. Check barcode price on wall scanner , 26 euro

3 .go to till , assistant scans item 26 euro

4. Assistant says something, I indicate I am NON VERBAL,

5. Assistant calls Chinese man , who then writes 26 euro crosses it out and writes 70euro

6. I shake head several times he then says " English want everything for free" his face is smirking.

7 . I leave shop

Hope that this clears the situation up, especially those who have said why didn't I ask in Spanish, I can't speak

Is everything now-a-days a potential con?  I ask, because as an older person trying to get along in this world independently I am thoroughly sick of being ripped off one way or another. I have experienced differing prices on the display and on the Caja mainly in Spanish/foreign shops simply because they are too slow at updating any price rise. Misleading to say the least. I have experienced much worse downright dishonesty from internet companies who don't want to accept returns, and send you round and round from "Help Lines" that are not even answering to complicated online return procedures including " send me a photo of the item" and still not telling you where to return it .Contractors/tradesmen are not much better. Plumbers and Electricians being the worst offenders  .I had a property maintenance man who I trusted, but he took off with my Karcher pump months ago, and does not now answer my requests to return it. I bought a cheaper replacement recently on the internet and it was unsatisfactory for cleaning . ( I am currently  getting the run-around from them).  I don't consider myself senile or stupid - maybe I just need another man to stand up for me? Go join a dating site and get ripped off properly?

I think you were right to Inform people of your experience and alert them to the potential risk of being overcharged. I commend you for sharing your experience with the rest of us. You have outlined what happened very clearly.

I have bought items there on occasion and happily I can report that I had no difficulty and found the particular items I purchased were of good quality too but in the main I only use shops like this if I can't find as item I need elsewhere because I don't like what I see with so many of these huge bazaars from China all over the coastal resorts and not only there but I every part of Spain - I find it alarming

. I tried buying in Leroy Merlin's to avoid supporting Chinese outlets but found most of the items I needed there were made in China as well! So much for my efforts to support European outlets.

Maybe you could consider  bringing this episode to the attention of the Consumer's Association?  Clearly this store has a policy of rip off which I find insulting and offensive. I'm not sure what it's called in Spain but another approach might be to take it to your local politician.

Forums like this are very helpful for people who are not in their own country and over the years I have found endless very helpful advice and suggestions on it so thank you for outlining your experience with others. I hope you found what you were looking for elsewhere.

Thank you so much, that's a great idea informing the local "MPs"

Many thanks

I bought 2 items in idea and was charged for both correctly. The cable I bought, I wanted to change cos it was too short. It wasn't on the receipt. Check your receipts!
