Hi there,
The length of time your pool pump comes on depends on a lot of factors, the main one being the volume of water you have. For example, my pool is approx. 9 x 5 metres, making it around 80,000 litres. In these temperatures I keep it on for about 7 to 8 hours a day, but not in one stretch. 2 hours would never be enough for a pool this size.
I have recently changed my thinking on pump times since I followed what they do in places like Arizona.
I now put the pump on for 4 hours in the morning, from 4am to 8am and then for 3.5 hours later on. So 4 hours on the cheapest rate is good for me.
I know the chlorine needs the sun to work but then huge amounts just evaporate. I have decided that my pool has never been in better condition.
