My IBI bill was €313 this year and the Non Resident Tax calculated by a tax professional is €210. It appears to me that the NRT is high, certainly increasing year on year.

Has anyone else found a huge increase in their NRT or can anyone explain the hike in tax?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Anni

Prior to Brexit the calculation for INR was the catastral value x19% x 1.1% and after Brexit it has risen to catastral value x 24% x 1.1%, a rise of 5%?.Or so I thought!! My IBI is similar to yours at 349€ and our INR was 204€ at the 19% old rate, so I stupidly thought the 5% increase would result in 5% of the 204€ ie to approx 214€, wrong!! The 5% is based on the IBI not payment due and therefore our INR has risen to 254€ an increase in payment of 25%.I had to query it too with the gestor who does it for us and this was the explanation. Quite a hefty jump and just another Brexshit present.

Pauline, thanks for that information.

I am an EU resident so Brexit doesn’t apply to me, I wonder should I query the increase with my tax professional 🤔

No one likes Brexshit presents 😜

Anni I would query it if I were you cos I don't think they may have taken into account you are an EU non resident. Good luck
