Hi everyone,

We will be visiting Santiago for a few days in May and want to see some of the area.

We don't wont to hire a car and thought a bike would give us the opportunity to have a gentle ride drop off and have a beer etc and cycle back.

Is this something we could do and do you know of any cycle hire shops in the area.

Its a gentle cycle not a tour de france lol

Regards

RogerD

I cycle all the time when I'm over in La ribera. The area is very flat. It's ideal for cycling. I just cycle around the local area. Up to san pedro and also around los alcazares. I have found some nice unspoilt beaches in san pedro. I also cycle along the path near the mud baths. There is a nice beach right at the end of that path too. In front of La Magna. We have our own bikes. We bought them from Decathlon in san javier. You can hire bikes locally though. I believe one of the hotels near the military end of the beach hires out bikes (sorry can't remember the name of the hotel, but it's in a side street. You will see the bikes outside) There is also a bike shop in Lo Pagan opposite the beach called bay bikes.I don't know how much they charge though. I have a feeling there is another shop near Dia on the road to the old airport. I can't wait to get back to spain. It is very hilly here where I live in the UK. Cycling in La Ribera is much easier.

The bicycle shop a few doors from Dia on Bartolome Panos Perez (around the corner from the Trabuco on the road to Los Alcaz) hire bicycles and there is also a bike hire shop on Conde Campillo.
