Can anyone tell me if costs have gone up, just had a bill in from Iberdrola for €68 and I'm not even there. I know there are standing charges but this is getting ridiculous.
Can anyone suggest another company that don't charge the earth.

Hi Karen
Is somebody in there while you are away as that is a lot to be billed just for charges!!
Lou
Hi Lou Lou,
No, nobody in there and electric switched off at mains
I would check your meter reading

Well something is wrong, that amount is a normal month of usage plus charges!!
You need to investigate further. Did you take meter readings?
Lou

Hello Karen
We are with Iberdrola on the day/night rate using a smart meter, our December bill was €57.15 for a 3 bed villa with a pool (no pool heater), we spent 7 days there over Christmas.
I buy energy as part of my job and have a spreadsheet (sad I know !) monitoring our monthly consumption for the last 26 months or so
Our prices have not increased recently (apart from the day/night split) but what is important only 33% of our December Bill was actually consumption (189 kwh), the rest was made up as follows :
Daily charge 44%
Electricity Tax 4%
Meter rental 2%
IVA (Vat) 17%
If possible, please check your account details online and check your last 6 bills or so to check for any variances.
It doesn`t take a lot of consumption to get to €50-60 !
Hope it helps
Anthony
Thanks Antony for your reply. We are on day/night charges. The €68 bill we had was the 2 months standing charge. As I said it was switched off at the mains when we left in Sept.

Yes, we have been in the UK for the last few months and the charges are almost as high as when we are there. I also notice that we are now receiving monthly bills.

Water invoices seem even worse, we hardly use any water, the extra charges for services and taxes completely outweigh the actual consumption....not a bad business model is it ?! (for shareholders at least)...
Are these based on estimated bills or actual readings?
