I'm moving to Requelme asap. Wanting to know the best way to pay for goods and services . Opened a bank account at Cajamar in Sucina in February 2020.  But wasnt given a debit card . Does anyone know if I would get one so I dont have to just use cash?

Thanks. Any advice much appreciated.

You will probably have to sign to accept the terms and conditions. The bank gets its bit from the fees paid by traders when you use the card, so of course they will charge you if you do not use them a certain amount of times, usually 15 Euros per quarter for underusage. Cash withdrawls do not count.

Thanks Peter. So will I receive a debit card at some point? Maybe I will have to go into the bank when I finally get there?

Thanks again  .

You will get a card. Could be send to your address but most likely the card will be in your branch in 30 days, probably already collecting dust down there until you call in person and ask for it. You need to sign a few forms, ask as much as possible about T&C's while there. Credit card maybe also will be available for you, there's a different terms how to pay back so ask everything.

Thanks so much for that. Very helpful. Is it best to pay by debit card or with €'s?

I repeat what I put in my first reply " of course they will charge you if you do not use them a certain amount of times, usually 15 Euros per quarter for underusage. Cash withdrawls do not count."

If you want one, use it, or you will be charged.

Personally I like to use Google Pay on my phone. Never got a cash. Please check T&C's what charges bank got for you as it could be different regarding what account you got.  Be persistent as they won't tell you if you don't. It's perfectly good to use your card since you'll get one. It's a bit different from UK accounts how they operating in Spain so need a little get used to it.

Cajamar are a bit crafty - they put it as 15 Euros discount for making 48 transactions per quarter, rather than saying they will charge you 15 Euros,
