It will be taxed, as the owner on 1st January is liable for this, and hopefully it will have a valid ITV (who would buy a car without one?). probably easiest to use a gestor to do the change of ownership and pay the registration tax on the purchase unless you are familiar with the process. It can be a minefield, as you should check that there are no debts tied to the car (e.g. fines for offences, court orders and so on) as these stay with the car rather than the previuous owner, and that the transfer is properly carried out so that any fines you incur are on your ownership rather than the previous owner. It should have been agreed who is liable for the transfer tax - you will see some adverts saying "transfer included" or "not".

Time to get an expert on the job - although really an expert should have checked all this before you committed to buying it.

I only paid €100 for the car it is mechanically sound but has quite a few dents and bumps.  I will take it to the local garage in Sucina to get it checked over. I only need the car to get me home to Edinburgh. I don't now much about the history of the car just need to get it legal.

Does not mater how much you paid for it if the seler does not sig a contract you cannot register it it is still the seller property.

If you have bought a car for small change with a valid ITV and road tax paid you have been fortunate. If you get it all legalised you will be lucky. If it makes the journey with no problems then it will be a miracle!
