I am looking to hire a car for 3 weeks in August , I live in La Tercia and in the past we have rented a car from A person in sucina. They have moved back to the uk but I was wondering if anyone was looking for some extra income for those 3 weeks.

I strongly suggest you only hire a car from a legitimate company. You would not have valid insurance using a private car that you pay to hire, and apart from the potentially terrible consequences of a crash (which of course does not need to be your fault) you could end up with a hefty fine (quite rightly in my view) for driving uninsured.
Put yourself and your family before the desire to save a little money.

You are not covered by private car insurance if the car is hired to you....UK or Spain!

Interesting topic. The same applies to anyone getting a 'lift' from someone doing airport runs if you pay them. This used to happen a lot year's ago with Brits charging for airport runs in their private car. You are not insured. I'm not so sure if this is happening on the same scale nowadays, but the Police used to look out for regular visits by private cars at Alicante airport
Best to be safe and hire through an agency to get the best price.
