Non Resident Certificate

Not heard anything about this from our bank. If this is true of all banks there is going to be a lot of problems as many of us are in the UK most of the time and not in a position to sort this out.

The banks do it because they need it for their accounts. If they don't have a NR certificate for an account then that account could be closed down (embargoed ).

The bank will give/send you a form to fill in. We had a letter from the Bank before Christmas telling us about this 

This is what our bank has always done. Every couple of years they send us the form to fill in and we send it off . That's what I meant by the banks do it. If they didn't send us the form we wouldn't know what to do.

A non residents certificate? Please enlighten me. We have never heard of this!

Hi, my bank Cajamar messaged me to say they are stopping the service of obtaining them, my solicitor said the banks do it, so quite confused 🤔

If you own property in Spain you have to pay a non residence tac

Yes of course but this is the NR certificate, which is separate from the tax. 

We pay the tax through our Fiscal Rep but the certificate has always been arranged through the bank to prove we are Non Resident.
