Hi all, I am just trying to find out if anyone in the UK that has not previously applied for Residencia has started to go through the process and if so would be kind enough to answer some questions I have ?  I have printed the Visa forms from the website and have just started looking at the Criminal record certificates.

On the instruction for the Visa ( Non - Lucrative ) It states that you need a Valid UK residence permit it does not however say if you are a British citizen you don't need this.  Can you clarify this ?

Also when requesting the appointment for Residency how long did it take for your appointment to come through to apply ?  And from this date how long did you have to wait for your acceptance ?  The reason I ask is,  the criminal record certificate and the Health Certificate are only Valid for 3 months so if these are booked too far in advance of the appointment they will become invalid. We need to get to Spain for the arrival of our furniture from the removals company,  is this classed as essential Travel as we need to complete on the sale of our property in April ?

Hopefully someone can shed a bit more light on it for us before we attempt to come over.

Thanks Angela

I can only help with your final point about travel to Spain...

Under the current UK rules, one of the exceptions to the Lockdown is 'any activity relating to moving house' - so you can travel in the UK if it's connected to your house move. However, to travel internationally from the UK, travellers have to inform their carrier of their reason for travel and that this is 'legally permitted'. It's hard to find a definition of 'legally permitted', but from what I've seen, this appears to be for work, medical procedures, legal reasons and on compassionate grounds. You can also travel if you are returning to your place of permanent residence.

Under the Spanish restrictions, my understanding is that no-one from the UK, other than people with permanent residency in Spain, can enter Spain right now (to be reviewed on or before 2nd March). There are areas on both the UK and Spanish government websites that imply this relates to air & sea travel only (implying that this does not apply to overland travel), but that isn't clear.

So, if your residency is granted you will be able to travel to your place of permanent residency under the UK rules and enter Spain under their rules. However, before then it would appear not.

However, these rules are due to be reviewed in the next 2-3 weeks, so may well change.
