Hi Neil

firstly people we have met in succina complain how bad the flies are July Aug Sept.  if you have been in these months then u will know first hand.

met quite a few people who have come out who are earlier 50s and need wot.  it's very seasonal and if you don't mind tuning  your hand to anything and are prepared to go into bars restaurants (one guy went into estate agents and did a couple of free photo shots of houses for them and is freelancing for them now) you mat be ok.  it's very much word of mouth in a trade area.   having Spanish is a bonus but not essential.

good luck for yr new adventure

Not sure if this is for you but if you have experience with telesales then I know of a vacancy but you must be autonomo and legal.  You would work from home and only need the internet and a phone and can work the hours you want. Its selling advertising and you can earn quite a lot - but - sales aren't for everyone.
