That's a good day Kalle, healthy country smells, car windows down and draw it in through the nostrils.  Gotta put the slurry somewhere.

Put the slurry on the fields, wait for a Gota Fria, then watch it all pollute the Mar Menor....

Aye, perhaps the farmers are banned from slurrying during Gota Fria season. Some will bend the rules?  Hope that's not the case for the sake of the coast though.

Ones pigs are moved for slaughter the pig house and drainage system is sluiced down into slurry tanks. The slurry dries before being loaded into trucks and sold to local farms for use as fertiliser on orchards and crop growing fields and greenhouses. This process gives the wonderful fresh fruit and vegetables sold in local shops and markets. The smell comes from the sluicing process so depends on local pig farmers.

At this time of year pigs are being sent for slaughter in time for Christmas, come spring they will be slaughtered in time for BBQ season. Added to this is the increased production of Smoked jambon, large contracts with China have meant increasing numbers of pigs and pig houses. People forget this is part if country living, exactly the same in the UK. Murcia is one of the large farming areas of Spain, for years it was very poor, it is only in recent years prosperity arrived, hence cheap land and property.
