Can I register at the Medical Centre in Totana? I have been waiting nearly a year

Hi can I ask why you have been waiting a year if you live in Totana?

I am presuming you are from the Uk, and if you are retired you should have had your S1 form and presented that as well as applying for residency if you are here permanently, if not then you will obviously only be staying for short periods,  therefore a good travel insurance to cover your needs or private health insurance. 

As for assistance normally if you do not speak or understand any Spanish, you will have to arrange a translator at your own cost.

Hola    it took me ages to find an medico        I live in Balsicas     but was told to go to La Tercia    

(1) they lost my papers    (2) they did not responded      (3) then I found out after a year I was at the wrong medico !!!!

What I have found out   is you need your area code (mine is 30592)  then go on line  to find a medico with the same code (try your council site)

      then just visit your local medico     try google to translate a letter "saying  you wish to register"  with your date of birth      take your  Padron (up to date)  your passport     your residencia    your nif/nie   your social number  (from your S1) the "resolucion asignacion de numero de seguridad social o number de afiliacion     (Spaiñ loves paperwork) 

if all in order you will be given "documento para la emision Y/O  modificacion de la tarjeta sanitaria 

this is an A4 stamped "form!"  you can use at a chemist or Doctor        then wait 3 months to pick up your  tarjeta   (Red & White card) 

Success! we called at the Medical Centre a few days ago and we have now registered, it took about 10 minutes
