We have a static home so pay ground rent and electricity/water to site owner. I have NIE number but nothing else. To date we have come and gone as we wish but usually twice a year for about 3 months at a time. With BREXIT and the desire to stay maybe longer should we get Residencia. If so what will we need to do. As we don't have to pay for council tax or services do we have to have a Spanish bank account?

I anyone can give us some advice that would be great. John & Diane

As always get professional advice, too many opinions on the forum, varying from valid through confused onto plain incorrect. Different areas seem to have varying requirements to qualify for residencia. It is my belief that residenca is a requirement for long-stayers but again get professional advice as we got ours a year ago for permanent residency 🌞🌞 so did not enquire about length of any one stay.

Your mobile home might be classed as a  Tourist property ...for holidays only and not for living in permanently ..to apply to be a Spanish Resident you need a permanent address with a Escutura or long term rental agreement ..

if you are under retirement age from your country of origin you will also need a private health care insurance policy ...you will also need proof of income I am not to sure how much this is ...if you are OAPs your pension book is normally ok for this ...you also get free health care paid for from the UK tax payers but only up to January 2021 ..after this date everyone that applies to become a Spanish Resident will need private health insurance in place.

Hi Frequent Flyer

Is this correct about healthcare insurance needed for pensioners from Jan 21?

All new Resident applications including OAPs after January 2021 will need a private health insurance cover ...you will also need €30,000 in your Spanish Bank account the UK will be classed as none EU members ...OAPs from the UK will no longer be permitted to take up residence on the strength of having a OAPs state pension ..as it just isn't... and has never been enough to live on in Spain...

Thanks for that FF

So, before 2021 no health insurance specified ? This is what I understood.

Thanks

Bob

If you know different then let's have the information.. currently all none EU citizens that are applying to become Residents of Spain are required to have €30,000 in a Spanish bank account and full private medical insurance cover...so the way I read it... is if the UK doesn't come to some sort of bilateral agreement between Spain and the UK then this will come into force from January 2021.

The UK has a reciprocal Health agreement with Spain...it was never an EU thing!
