We have a country house in Villena as non residents, about 25kms from Yecla. You would leave the A31 from Alicante at the Villena, Yecla, Ontinyent turn off and head for Yecla. Its very differrent to Campasol, the real inland Spain, no english urbanisations and about 50/60mins from Alicante and beaches. There are Expats around us in all towns and in Yecla but all living as mostly solitary campo(country) houses. I went from an urbanisation in Gran Alicant with high % of Brits to campo house outside Villena town, much quieter, real Spanish, no shops or bars within 2/3kms, but we prefer the peaceful surroundings. Your social life would be reached only by car(no walking to closeby bar) but there are Brits meeting up in many places, every town has a market day and we all meet up there and once you gain friends, socialising in each others houses. Its not an area if you,re getting on in age as driving could become a problem in later years. We are 70 to 76yrs and do realise we couldnt access our own house if we couldnt drive (no local english speaking taxi service here). Good luck with your decision

Regards

Pauline.

Of course the price for the size will be much better than anything near Camposol because its inland and doesnt have the facilities that you would find nearer the coast. However you wouldnt get us living on an urbanisation for all the tea in china. It always depends on what you need from an area. We dont need busy thats what we love about our area, we can get a social life on our terms and prefer our own large pool to the beach. We found with an urbanisation house it was just like "Eldorado", not the real Spain at all but it doesnt suit everyone. We wanted a holiday home from home feel and now with Brexit looming, we are staying 3months in Spain and 3months in Uk. Best of luck with your choice, its an important decision as difficult to sell if you make a mistake. We lost 36,000€ on selling our first house.

Regards

Pauline.

We have a country house in Yecla & live full time in Spain, we live in the campo about 7km from Yecla centre, It is very quiet but that is what we wanted, we have wonderful Spanish neighbours who have made us feel very welcome & if we need anything they are there to help.

Yecla & it’s people are wonderful & very friendly where ever we go, once they realise you are English most enjoy trying to practice their English speaking.

There are other English people about but we have only met about 10 English couples in the 18 months of living here.

Hi Lynda

Just seen your post and we are not far from you at all. We moved here from the UK in September so just finding our feet. Not sure if you are over here at the moment but would be nice to meet up sometime.
