Hi all, we are looking at moving to Yecla next year. We have visited and stayed there quite a few times in recent years. We really like the feel of the town and surrounding countryside.
I would be interested to hear the experiences of other UK expats who have moved there with families. We have 2 children, one aged 7 and the other 15. We noticed there is a bilingual school there and we felt that may be a good option for the kids to learn Spanish and integrate without being thrown in at the deep end with a solely Spanish speaking school. We would really appreciate any advice you have re schooling good and bad.
Have you found the locals welcoming also? They always seem friendly when we visit, but wondered if it is different when living there full time.

Also, it would be good to understand if there are any expat groups. We are aged 46 and 42 and are quite social so it would be good to meet other people who have moved to the area also.

thanks in advance

Mark

Hi mark, we have lived in yecla for over 3 years & love it here, we have found the locals very welcoming, whilst there are expats about ( probably less than 100 couples ) most of them seem to keep themselves to themselves. There is a group of mixed spanish & english who met up pre covid to practice their english/spanish & would go on organised trips.

As for schools i can't comment.

Sorry

Tony

Thanks Tony, that’s great to hear. The English/Spanish speaking group sounds good. I will have to look into that when we move over. Glad to hear you are enjoying living there also, that’s reassuring.

Thanks

Mark
