I opened my Wefferent account in January 2020 using my UK mobile number.

I know it worked because the guy sent me a confirmation text.

Thanks for all the clarifications. I'll just have to wait until we can get out.

Roland - are you physically using the Wefferent account?  I ask because during the registration process at the branch, I received a number of notifications on my UK mobile. However, on opening the Groupo  Cajamar app,  I receive an error message that ultimately leads to being told that my mobile number is invalid because it is not 9 figures. I am told that this can only be resolved at an ATM or visiting the branch.

I only use the Wefferent account to withdraw cash in Spain.

I don't actually have anything to do that might generate a text message etc to test the working of the UK mobile number.

I use Transferwise for all my direct debits.

Hi Pauline

You may remember that a friend and I began to open our Wefferent account last October but were stumped for want of a Spanish mobile number to link the account to. The good news is that the accounts are finally up and running using a HITS sim and I have to say I am impressed with all the features of the Wefferent account. My only concern now is maintaining the HITS number using the Keep your Line Service annually. Were you able to set up a direct debit with HITS or the providers of the SIM card?  Thanks again for all your advice on this topic, I am finally free of the tyranny of high charges and very poor customer service!

Another suggestion for a simple mobile sim is the Orange Llama pre-pay. If all you want it for is mainly incoming calls, or website input then it as good as any. Cost me 20€ and can't see anything about top ups. Expect them to try to sell a monthly contract (I went to Dos Mares shop) but stand your ground.

The Wefferent account is a Cajamar bank account.

Martyn so sorry I haven't read this earlier, yes I set up direct debit for hits to top up the balance when credit falls below 5€ and the "keep your number" charge is taken from balance once a year. Glad you are happy with Cajamar

Hi guys. I'm trying to open a non residents account with Cajamar. Looked at Wefferent but it says you must be resident in Spain. Has something changed?
