Hi Tracy

I cannot recommend Iberdrola but I know they do Solar Panel installation and at least you would know that it met legal requirements

We had panels supplied and installed by Iberdrola in July 2021.

The main financial benefits are avoided cost via self-consumption - i.e. when you're generating and then using that power, you are not paying Iberdrola to draw from the network.

If you are a customer (as we are), they calculate how many panels / kW you need and provide a quotation on that basis, also showing how long it will take to get a return on your investment (I understand the average is about 6 years). They then hads a site inspection and advise which is the best orientation for panels to get the maximum benefit. They can then also change your tariff to a 'Solar Tariff', where you pay a higher rate in the daytime (but you won't be, as you'll be generating) and then a lower rate in the evening & overnight. You also receive 5 cents per kWh for any excess power exported into the network.

We had 1.65kW installed for a cost of approx. €4,000. We have realised a €50 per month reduction in our bills, which is as expected and on track to cover the costs within 7 years. I know neighbours that have bought cheaper systems and also more kW, but I was advised to install the average needed, not to cover peak demand, etc.

Hope this helps and happy to answer any other questions you may have...

I don't believe so. The few off-grid I've seen here have very old-fashioned batteries which look very unsafe and unreliable.

Are you thinking of having a back-up generator and gas for heating then?

Hi Tracey,

I have only just seen your post, we live in the Campo in Yecla and are totally off grid. Jim Davis from Solar Sky in Pinoso installed or system, we have 12 panels 3 lithium batteries for storage and a generator for backup. It has been enough even through the winter and use of the generator is rare. It powers our pool ( throughout the year including winter) and provides enough power for fridges tv sky and washing machines and cooking. The other bonus is we don’t suffer from power cuts 😉

If you need any other info, just shout!
