I was hoping to extend my time in Murcia this time to go over the 90 days.

Does anyone know if this is simple to do? Would I have a chance of another 3 months? I won’t be working, although if that helps to get an extension I probably could get a Spanish friend to give me some temporary work.
I’ll be based in Yecla.

Would I go into a government office to extend?

Assuming you are a UK citizen? If so, not possible. If you overstay it will be flagged up, and should you try to reenter you will be refused.

I’m a UK nation. I also have New Zealand passport.

I had thought there may be a slim chance of extending my visa officially if I applied, but it seems this is not a simple process

What visa do you have currently? If you don't have a visa, but are just referring to the visa-free Schengen area 90-day option, then there is zero chance of extending that.

To change the Schengen 90-day rule would require many countries unanimously accepting to do this. It's not just an EU thing, but involves other countries too, and it's just not going to happen. A lot of people don't understand this and keep hoping Spain will somehow get this changed for Brits. However, in parallel to the Schengen area agreement, each country is free to set its own visa requirements and conditions, hence my question about your visa.

One of the main reasons that too many Brits voted to leave the EU was to make it more difficult for people to go there without being able to support themselves legally, paying nothing in to the system yet having all the services of the country. The EU countries can now stop that happening here.

As well as not being easily able to extend your 90 days in Spain as a third-country citizen you cannot legally work either. All third-country citizens who did not obtain residencia in Spain before Brexit can only work if they have previously applied for a work permit and have been offered a job that no Spanish or EU citizen can do.

I'm sorry that you can't stay any longer. Many of us feel the same way too. Blame the Brexiteers (who, along with Jacob Rees-Mogg, are still desperately searching for the supposed benefits of Brexit and not being able to find any!)
