Hi

I need additional gas bottles and I am unable to find a local shop to update my details and get a contract for extra bottles. I'm sure there must be one somewhere

Kind regards

Sue

Hi,

Have you tried the local petrol station as they often sell/swap gas bottles and can generally sign you up for a contract?

In our area a lorry loaded with bottles comes around every few weeks or so, ringing a bell, for people to exchange gas bottles. Maybe you could ask your neighbours if this happens where you are.

The alternative, if you have a gas cooker is to change to an electric cooker/hob. We did that as I didn't want the inconvenience of running out and changing gas bottles and the maintenance of having to get the gas connections checked for safety.

I know lots of people use the gas canisters for heaters in the winter - You could try this link to see if there's a petrol station near you - I found 2 but not sure how far for you to travel (click where it says 'by name' and put in Yecla) in: http://www.repsol.com/es_en/productos-servicios/estaciones-de-servicio/buscador-estaciones-servicio/

Here's another link that may help: http://www.repsol.com/es_en/productos-servicios/glp/particulares/te-aconsejamos/productos/gas-envasado/Default.aspx?JScript=1  Apparently you can sign up online but it may be in Spanish and not so easy.

I do know that car boot sales and 'items for sale' columns in local newspapers or online and even Ebay 'collection only' sellers sometimes sell second hand bottles. Although it is always advisable to follow the correct procedures for safety reasons, if you buy a used bottle you can just exchange this bottle each time for another one when you find a local supplier.

Hope this helps,

Jan

Hi Jan

Thank you for your reply.  Unfortunately we have just bought a duel fuel range so changing to electric is not an option.  We have tried local garages but they only exchange.  I am trying to find a shop that sell gas appliances as they usually deal with the contracts.  Do you know if your contract has to be in the area that you live in.  We are from  Torrevieja and I could use a local shop there, but it could cause a problem when it comes to checking your equipment.

Also, I don't suppose you know of a company that could put in a septic tank.

thank you

Kind regards

Sue

Hi,

I asked on our other forum about your question: "Do you know if your contract has to be in the area that you live in. We are from Torrevieja and I could use a local shop there, but it could cause a problem when it comes to checking your equipment" and these answers came back (These answers are personal opinions and are not endorsed by this forum but may be helpful - As always safety is paramount!)  :

Answer 1 - If you need a new bottle just fill in the contract and put "for outside BBQ use" on the form, you shouldn't then need a certificate, you can change empty bottles anywhere without paperwork.

Answer 2 - Buy a bottle off one of the many for sale on forums or local facebook sites , check the regulator [ or buy new for peace of mind ..!] and make sure that the gas pipe is in date or replace cheaply from a Ferreteria....Sorted !!

Hope this helps,

I don't know about Septic tank companies but hopefully someone else may be able to help you there.

Jan
