I am at a loss to understand what is causing the increase in confirmed cases.

Is it that the authorities are testing more people, is it the 2nd spike that everyone has predicted, is that people have travelled around socializing whilst on holiday, is it the young people not adhering to social distancing. Where I live in Aguilas I have noticed that the majority of people are wearing masks when out and are social distancing even on the beaches, do people think that the virus has reseeded and have got complacent or is it that some people have just had enough of the restrictions and cannot be bothered to wash hands, wear masks and social distance themselves thus putting others at risk. I recently returned from the UK and I certainly got that impression "that it won't affect me" whilst I was there

I read on a Spanish local news post that they are doing more tests hence the increase. A lot of the cases are apparently asymptomatic too.

A Spanish friend told me that the local authorities are receiving money from government if they do lots of testing.

We’re near Lorca and, like you, everywhere we go people are observing the rules.

All of the above, John.

The latest scientific conclusion is that every country is now testing 100s of thousands of the general public too.  Reporting figures is more efficient too.   Had the same testing capacity been available back in March - June, the figures would probably have been considerably higher that those officially reported.   So you are right on all counts.

BUT one interesting fact from all data was that people actually dying from C19 has significantly dropped.

We shall see what the winter flu season holds now there is another flu virus to add to those already in existence.
