With fresh produce in abundance in the area for a few cents a kilo you are really going to struggle selling your produce.

Chemical free or not.

Many times there is an unsaleable glut of produce that rots in the fields & greenhouses.

Hello. You misundertood my idea. I am not wanting to sell any produce. I want to eat it.

Foods bought in supermarkets are loaded with chemicals and herbicides which i personalky do not wish to ingest.

I am asking if there are people with energy and who are health conscious. I realise its easy to buy produce in shops but they simply are not as nourishing as home grown biological options.

Oh sorry.

It was probably my error.

I wrote with a general idea only and just hoped for interested persons feedback where we could discuss options and opportunities.

No harm done. All the best.

It's a good idea as it's an ideal growing climate.

I have a large vegetable garden in the UK and after a few weeks of dry weather we are now faced with heavy rain and cold temperatures.

Hope you get some other responses.

Search FB: gardening in Spain.....there are a couple around.

I had a vege garden in the south of  France and have given up. The soil was tired after 5 years, I used compost and also hore manure from a stable.

Hello. Thank you for the suggestion.

The soil here in south west murcia has been over used and the solution for the big growers is to load up with fertilizers though I do see some sign they are becoming aware of the damage they do and are resorting to some more natural products.

I feed my soil with horse bedding and manure and feel I am bringing it back to life. Vegetables grow well and the biggest adversity is the heat of high summer but i suppose this is a  good time to let the earth rest and to plant again in early autumn. Luckily in this region its possible to grow most months of the year. I am considering a small greenhouse covered with shade cloth to keep the worst of the heat at bay.

I have read that Homesteading is really popular in the USA for those who have decided the unhealthy city living is not for them. I love the countryside, especially the hills and mountains though its not easy to grow there.

I agree with you that it is a lot of work but I consider it something worthwhile.

Thanks again for the reply.

A tip for the greenhouse: shade it from the outside, so the heat stays out. Otherwise the heat is already in and you need more irrigation. Invest in some "water container" to collect the rainwater. Put some rainpipe around the roof of the house, drained into the container.

Find at a junk yard old door/windows and make the greenhouse:

Water tank system….. https://www.rekubik.de/magazin/algen-im-ibc/

Hello Roland, I am a career horticulturalist of 45 yrs living in Campo Cartagena. Your idea is quite practical and while in this  area they treat the soil with plant waste rotted down with Animal waste by professional businesses, the farmers do not as yet work with green manure crops ploughed in. I have a net greenhouse, very basic, somewhat damaged after a recent hail storm, but growing bedding , house plants and garden plants which i use in my garden and give to charities to sell.

Please private message then we can whatsapp if i can help you .
