Hi there
we are looking at buying a property in or around Águilas. Just a small 3 bed house with a small pool. We would only visit the property a few times a year but would want to keep the pool running from April to October. Could someone let me know the cost to get someone in to maintain it please?

many thanks

Chris

Eu 60-80 per month for a "pool guy".

To this, add electricity for the pump (8 hours/day in summer, pumps typically vary between 0.5kw to 1.4kw, depending on the pool/filter size) and water (evaporation losses and backwash/floor cleaning losses, allow a least an inch of water level per week in summer).

If you don't "run" your pool during the off-season, you will incur expense it getting it ready each year ... chlorine shock, etc., or fresh water.

Depending on proximity to contaminants (e.g., tree debris) you may need periodic heavy cleaning.

We have  3 x 8 Meter

I fully agree with Will...

"hidden" costs are top up the pool, electricity for pumps, The pool boy (weekly maintenance incl. chemical (chlor)) € 60,00/month.

I clean the tiles above the water once a month in the summer, just a 15 min. job.  The tile cleaner was 15€ for 5 litre enough for maybe 2-3 years.

I recommend also a pool cover, for the time you are not here and for the cooler nights to keep the water warm.

I bought a bungalow with a 4x7 pool last year. I’ve run it one year now.

I had to completely drain it and check on the tiles etc, the refill it. This is done with mountain water by tank lorries. I needed 50,000 litres which cost me €400.
Pool maintenance is €100/month. That includes all chemicals and proper cleaning once a week, looking after the pump and such. Also means I got it cleaned properly (no extra costs) after the sand storms.

Don’t underestimate the water loss. I refilled water every second or third day during this summer. If you are not around you should definitely invest in a cover.  I’m thinking of having an automatic one installed as the manual covering of a pool is quite a task.

My filtration runs 3 times in 24 hours for 2 hours. Those costs depend on your electricity contract.

It’s not cheap to run a pool but it’s well worth it!
