Hi.

My husband, Tony, and I are coming out on the 21st April, staying in San Juan. We're only here for a week but would like to meet up with any expats from the UK who have moved to the area of Aguilas or close to, to chat about any problems you've faced in relocating to Spain, and how it is for you here.

We've had Spain as our retirement destination for years and it's getting closer! So we'd like to be well informed before making this huge decision.

Thanks for your time.

Dee.

Hello.  I personally feel everyone has maybe good/bad experiences throughout life in general.  A  very good start would be to register the 'Expats in Spain' and the CAB Spain websites.  Full of valuable information for everyone.

Good Luck and enjoy your new life in a very beautiful country.

Margaret and JOHN

Dear Margaret & John.

Thank you for your response.

Yes, indeed, I fully agree with you that everyone has different experiences in all walks of life, and we weren't looking for someone to tell us all their horror stories! We just thought it would be nice to meet up with anyone local, start to get a feel for the place.

However, I'll take a look at the sites you've mentioned, thanks.

Dee.

Hi Dee and Tony

Sorry we missed your visit a few months ago to San Juan but we hope you had a fruitful week and gained some insights into moving/purchasing/planning a future in the Aguilas area. I would urge you to read a post I have on this site regarding our purchase in Aguilas this last year, as it can save a potential purchaser many thousands of euros plus, equally as important, remove all the stress and anxiety associated with moving to Spain.

My wife and I are not retired yet and so will not be moving to Spain full time for another 5 years or so yet, but we do come over to our property in Aguilas about 6 times each year (4 trips already this year and another in early September), so anytime you are planning a possible return trip, let us know and we would be pleased to meet up with you when you are there. Also, you can keep in touch with us via our email in the UK if you wish. We would be pleased to give you any advice etc.

Best wishes

Kevin and Lisa

Hi there

We chose to buy about 15 mins inland from Aguilas , love the area and the beaches around San Juan. We visit our place about 10 times a year and plan to move here permanently in about 5 years. Happy to exchange experienecs

Come down and spend a week in the area keep away from all expats and experience the Spanish way of like. Immerse yourselves in it and enjoy. We came here 15 months ago not knowing anyone and with a very open mind and love it. Ultimately it is better to make your own decision. Good luck.
