Copied from GREEN FINGERS gardening group. Devastating and without warning.

Arrived at 8am this morning at our usual bucket collection point,at the bottom of the dual carriageway on C Sector to find a JCB about to demolish our Memorial Garden, where we do our Remembrance Day tribute, every year.

The land is being cleared, and fenced off by the unknown owner.

10 Years continual hard work by our volunteers down the drain, plants, trees, roses will be destroyed.

I tried to get the contractor to fence behind the Garden, until such time as the land is sold, but to no avail.

Our volunteers managed to rescue a few plants and planters, but the majority are too established to move.

There was no warning given, that this was about to happen, and luckily it was a Wednesday, when our Volunteers are out.

We managed to get the JCB driver to save some of the 25 tons of white gravel, recently laid.

Needless to say we are all gutted by this, but will carry on making C Sector a nice place to live.

If any one has spare time please consider helping the group in any way you can.

Hi

We own on C10 and appreciate all the hard work that has gone into the Memorial Garden it just doesn’t make any sense for this small piece of land to be cleared there is so much waste land on Camposol and although the area is potentially building plots as they have the electrical supplies boxes in place surely the current owners could have discussed this with Sector C Green Fingers Committee before sending a JCB to clear the land.

Phil.

So sorry to hear this, after all your hard work, what with this and the 2 thieves who go about stealing plants ( they will have a big shock soon ) it is so dis heartening.

I think by the sound of it lots of bits of land will now be sold of due to the Camposol up grade, many people will be looking to cash in.

Try and keep up the good work, but check out first if any land you intend to in prove are to be sold, or have been sold.

Best of luck.
